GET TO KNOW ME

Swordsman in the modern day

When I was a child I was obsessed with martial arts movies and cartoons like most young boys, but unlike other boy's I never really grew out of it.

I started my martial arts career when I was just 4 years old. My mother took me to Taekwondo two or three times a week. I think it was more to get an energetic young boy out of her hair for a couple of hours but it was beneficial for both of us in the end. My mother got some peace and quiet for a little while and I was building character. After about two to three years of being in Taekwondo, my mother had a new job lined up for the airport which meant that we would be moving around the midwest for a little while. Finally, when I turned nine years old she got a job working for Northwest Airlines which meant that we would stay in Minnesota. Quite a few years went by until I would rejoin any martial arts dojo, but when I entered High School I noticed that there was a mixed martial arts dojo next to my school. I didn't have much money at this point and time since I was in high school but I got my first job working as a repairman's helper which allowed me to get my first taste of a real job and the benefits that came with it. Right after my second paycheck I entered the dojo and trained in Karate, Kali and Judo. I trained at that dojo for about five years until I entered into college where I needed to study and work to support my mom and I. Fast forward to 2014 and I would find Kaishin Dojo, School of Swordsmanship. I have been here for nearly a decade and it is my second home.
